DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR DRIVERS ARE???

Top 50 drivers ranked in KACSPORTS exclusive 2007 Fantasy NASCAR Preview.

YET ANOTHER DIRTY BIRD??? It seems lately either someone who plays for the Falcons, or used to play for the Falcons, runs afoul from the law. Now former defensive back Ashley Ambrose has been cited for allegedly attacking his wife and trying to prevent her from calling police. Ambrose was released on $5,700 bond soon after arriving in the pokey.

VEGAS TROUBLE FOR PAC-MAN??? Did you really think we just got through All-Star weekend in Vegas with a clean sheet, you mean no professional athlete getting in any hot water. And if a pro athlete got in trouble, who do you think would be the betting-line favorite in just about any pool??? Police wanted to talk to Pac-Man Jones after three people were wounded (two critically) at a Vegas club early Monday morning. Pac-Man is said not to be a suspect in the incident and is free to go home - or another club. Let's see, 140-something days until training camp. Do you really think Pac-Man can go THAT long without getting busted or at least questioned again???

UPDATE - PACMAN BIT BOUNCER!?!? Leave it to NFL Network's Adam Shefter, who reports that witnesses claimed that Pacman Jones BIT the ankle of the bouncer who wound up getting shot during the melee. Maybe Adam thought that he just got his power-up and that the bouncer was one of the blue ghosts. Oh, and there's more - it's said Adam was recovering from a previously UNREPORTED shoulder surgery and that the the bouncer 'popped' Pac-Man's shoulder while holding him in an arm bar. Pac-Man reportedly left Vegas in a great deal of pain. These players are fearing the day NFL Network gets on basic cable.

CAREER OF BROWNS CENTER APPEARS OVER: Center LeCharles Bentley signed 6-year/$36 million contract last year, then totalled his patella tendon on something like the FIRST PLAY of training camp - then got a staph infection (which goes around the Browns camp for some reason) and some other complications. Now he needs another surgery and will miss the '07 season. Two missed seasons usually spells the end of a career - I imagine the Browns try to cut their losses now.

KOREN ROBINSON GETS 90 DAYS: This is for fleeing police in Minnesota last August, it's said he could do the sentence there or in Wisconsin - and can be served at the same time he serves 90 days for violating his probation in a separate drunk-driving case in the Seattle area last year. Don't know if that means he can serve 180 days worth of jail-time in 90 or not.

COLLEGE HOOP BLOTTER UPDATE:

Gonzaga center Josh Heytvelt charged with FELONY possession of 33 grams worth of hallucinogenic mushrooms which was in his car.

ILLINOIS GUARD CHARGED WITH DUI: This sounds really ugly. Illinois basketball player Jamar Smith has been charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, and apparently thought Brian Carlwell was dead. The accident occurred when Smith hit a tree in a middle of a snowstorm, Smith blew a .176 after the accident.

IS DUNGY SURE HE WANTS TO COME BACK??? RHODES BUSTED WITH DUI: Caught doing 81 in a 55, what authorities call a 'run-of-the-mill drunk driving arrest. It's not the first time Rhodes has found trouble, he had a domestic violence rap following his breakout 2002 season.

CHARLIE WEIS MISTRIAL AFTER JUROR 'COLLAPSES': Juror nodding off, during a trial??? Can't blame them. A judge has declared a mistrial in a medical malpractice case brought by Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis after a juror collapsed and several doctors, including the two defendants, rushed to his aid. The juror, an unidentified older man, began moaning as he listened to testimony in defense of the two Massachusetts General Hospital surgeons who Weis claims botched his care after gastric bypass surgery. The judge immediately ordered the other jurors out of the courtroom, but some saw the defendants and other doctors who were in the courtroom rush to the juror's aid.

COLLEGE LAX PLAYER IN TROUBLE, AND IT'S NOT AT DUKE: A Syracuse University men's lacrosse player has been arrested and charged with assault and has been suspended from the team for an undetermined amount of time. The alleged assault by the player of a fellow student is said to have occurred about a month ago after a Saturday night party which was said to had ended around 1 AM.

CBA PLAYER FACES SEXUAL ASSAULT RAP: A Minot Skyrockets player has been jailed after an arrest on a sexual assault charge. Ronnie Fields, 29, was jailed on suspicion that he committed an offense against a 24-year-old woman. A former prep teammate of Kevin Garnett at Chicago's Farragut Academy, Fields has apparently been in trouble before. In 1996 it's said that Fields and two others were charged with a misdemeanor sexual abuse charge, Fields ended up being sentenced to two years of probation. Also, this is not the first trouble this year for the Minot franchise, in December two players were dropped from the team following misdemeanor arrests.

NBA TEAM IN VEGAS?? NOT SO FAST - If players can find trouble in Indianapolis or Minneapolis, what happens when you let them loose on the strip at 3 A.M.???

ANOTHER PRO ATHLETE IN TROUBLE FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY: Atlanta Falcons defensive lineman Jonathan Babineaux was arrested on Monday morning and charged with one count of felony animal abuse. Details are scant, but it is said that according to a neighbor Babineaux owns two dogs, described as a pit bull and 'some other large dog' that is said to get kind of 'grouchy'. I'll say it again, approach the home of a pro athlete at your own pearl, lot of them tend to own some dangerous 'pets'.

SOCCER PLAYER PULLS OUT THE DRIVER, WHACKS TEAMMATE!!! As much as they try, MLS will never be like the English Premiere League unil an incident like this happens. Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy faces an uncertain future after pulling out a golf club and striking a teammate in the legs. What's better, the two were arguing over a recent karoake competition!!! Bellamy has had a history of getting in trouble before - in 2003 he was charged with three 'racism' offenses during a night out. The following year, Bellamy threw a chair at his assistant manager, then was heavily fined for calling his manager a liar in 2005. The distraction occurs as Liverpool is getting ready to play FC Barcelona in a matchup between the two most recent Champions League winners.

REPORT: MOYNAHAN PREGGERS WITH BRADY'S BABY??? It was thought that Tom Brady had dodged a bullet after breaking up with actress Bridget Moynahan in December - not so fast. A representative for Bridget now says she's pregnant, and the Brady is the dad...

MARK MARTIN HEARTBREAK IN WILD DAYTONA FINISH: #29 car comes out of absolutely nowhere, overtaking Mark Martin and outracing the #01 to the checks as wild crash breaks out behind the leaders. NASCAR doesn't immediately throw the yellow flag, allowing Harvick to ruin Martin's Cinderella bid.

WHEN SHOULD THE CAUTION BEEN THROWN??? Per NASCAR protocol, the yellow is supposed to be thrown, and the field frozen - as soon as a crash occurs. Had that been the case Martin would had been the winner.

UGLIEST SPORTS INCIDENT EVER??? You may nominate Pacers/Pistons from a couple years ago or something involving Miami Hurricanes football or something from the NHL. But Minnesota's date this weekend with #1 ranked Ohio State at Williams Arena still brings back ugly memories for longtime Buckeye supporters. On January 25, 1972 the same teams met at Minnesota, with the Gophers needing to win to keep Ohio St. out of first place in the Big Ten. Leading 50-44 in the final minute, Buckeye center Luke Witte is fouled hard by Minnesota's Clyde Turner attempting to score. What happened next remains a black eye in the history of the Minnesota program. Another Gopher player puts his arm out as if to help Witte up. Instead he kicks him in the groin. Ohio State teammates rushed to Witte's defense, only to be intercepted by Minnesota players while yet another Gopher kicks and stomps a bloody Witte uncounscious (this starts sounding like a bad Sopranos scene after a while). It gets worse, fans including members of Minnesota's football teams becomes involved, another Gopher basketball player of immense physical stature also gets in the middle of the fray - you may have heard of him, his name was Dave Winfield. With his very life in danger, Witte is stretchered off the floor and is BOOED by the crowd. When the dust cleared that night, three Buckeyes wound up in the hospital, two in ICU. Amazingly, the Minnesota program did not receive any reprucussions from the Big Ten or NCAA for the actions of their team that night.

BRENDAN SHANAHAN DAMN NEAR KILLED: A truly freightening and freak incident in the world's most famous arena today sent Rangers veteran Brendan Shanahan to the ER. Shanahan was merely skating towards his teams bench as the Flyers Mike Knuble was just coming on his shift. The two players never saw each other as their shoulders collided, and Shanny's head ended up banging violently against the ice, knocking him out cold for several minutes. Knuble may end up being just as bad for the wear, it is said he has suffered a fractured cheekbone and orbital bone and is also out indefinitely.

CELTICS FINALLY WIN SOMETHING: They may have lost 18 in a row but at least someone on the team knows how to dunk a ball. Gerald Green, the Celtics' 21-year-old swingman, performed his two most memorable dunks in the first round before a lengthy final leap over a 3-foot table for a windmill jam, finishing with a perfect 50 score to cap an event that gets tougher to revolutionize every year.

GATORS GET WASTED WITH A SHOT OF VANDY: #1 team gets thumped at Vanderbilt 83-70, Ohio St. in line to take over top spot in rankings. Ohio State, Florida - hmmmm, didn't we just go through this in football???

PENGUINS ON FEBRUARY MARCH: Suddenly looking more like a cup contender each day, Pittsburgh takes recent run to 13-0-2 with win in Jersey.

KEY INJURY IN BUFFALO: Sabres lose Afinogenov till playoffs, tops suddenly mounting injury list.

FEBRUARY 18, 2001: For the first time the Daytona 500 will be run on the anniversity of it's darkest hour. This year's race also comes on the heels of the recently-released 'Dale'. Unlike a similar movie which aired on ESPN a couple years back, this movie was produced with the endorsement of the Earnhardt family.

BRAD DAUGHERTY BRINGS UNIQUE CREDENTIALS TO NASCAR TELECASTS: The 7-foot one-time #1 overall NBA draft pick at first glance seems miscast as a NASCAR analyst, but Daugherty is actually a former owner, running teams in NASCAR's Busch and Truck series. Also, Daugherty wore #43 with the Cavaliers (now retired) in honor of Richard Petty.

MORE TROUBLE FOR JIM LAMPLEY??? Boxing and Olympics announcer Jim Lampley was charged Friday with violating a temporary restraining order filed by a former beauty queen. Lampley faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor charge, according to the DA's office. Lampley, who is scheduled for a court appearance on March 13, has denied any wrongdoing.

DETAILS OF OFF-SEASON GRIFFEY INJURY DISCLOSED: Griffey reveals he suffered his broken hand when he got knocked off balance by his 13-year old son during some horseplay at home. As you would expect, numerous theories had been making it's rounds on how Griffey suffered the December injury - including scuttlebutt that it may had been a motorcycle accident. Griffey underscores the fact that the accident was nothing that would be in violation of his Reds contract.

LAMBEAU TURF UPDATE WELL UNDERWAY: Field has already been dug up in preperation for a new heating/coil system to be a topped off by a Grassmaster like surface, where real grass is reinforced by artificial fibers. Similar surfaces are in place in three other NFL stadiums, and promises more durability even late in the season. The surface has been in place on one of the Packers practice fields for a couple years now, and speaking from seeing it first-hand, it is more immaculate (at least during the summer) than any front lawn. And not surprisingly, you will see shirt-sleeve weather in Green Bay in January before you ever see a switch to an artificial surface at Lambeau.

J.D. GETS POISON PILL CONTRACT??? J(ust).D(isabled). Drew might have to wait until 2030 to get all the money in his contract if (or when) he gets hurt. Drew's $70 million contract with the Boston Red Sox, finally finalized this week, is a deal that would pay the outfielder $14 million for each of the next five seasons. But if he Drew doesn't play at least 500 games from in the next four years or 375 from 2008 through 2009, then $9 million of his 2011 salary would be deferred at 1 percent interest. Drew would receive the money and interest each July 1 starting with payments of $500,000 in 2022 and $750,000 in 2023. Drew would then would get $1 million annually from 2024-29 and $1.75 million in 2030. It'd be a nice pension at least.

TINY TIM - LEAVING LAS VEGAS: Notice that Tim Hardaway's foot is in a walking cast now after being stuck in his mouth for the last 36 hours. This morning Hardaway is being talked about on Good Morning America as well as lot of other talk shows by people that don't give a hoot that Hardaway once averaged 23 points and 10 assists per game. And now Hardaway can genuinely know what it's like to be outed, as the NBA has asked him out of Las Vegas where he was to participate in this weekend's All-Star activities. Tim also lost a lucrative endorsement deal and some other business ventures in South Florida with Hardaway's name on it may be in trouble. On the plus side, he's sure helping John Amaechi's book up the best seller list. Hardaway has 'apologized' for his already infamous sportstalk radio segment, saying that as an African-American, he knows all too well about bigotry and hatred. Meanwhile, check out the Youtube link (from Robert Littal's blacksportsonline.com) where Tim actually defends his radio comments on a Miami TV station, and adds that he would disassociate from a family member if he/she were gay. Then Hardaway adds that people should be worried about 'more important things' such as President Bush and the war in Iraq. Actually Tim, I think homophobia and hatred rank right down there with war itself.

MEDIA STAKES HARDAWAY HOME: Says he has no more comment, asks media 'to respect his privacy'

CBS SPORTSLINE BLOG: Hardaway a 'stomach-turning' story...

DOES TODD BOZEMAN NEED ANOTHER EIGHT-YEAR VACATION??? It's been said that a ham sandwich once killed Mama Cass's career, actually it's said it killed Mama Cass period. And now a batch of ham sandwiches may choke off a once-promising coaching career once and for all. If the name sounds vaguely familiar, Todd Bozeman was Cal's basketball coach in the mid-1990's before a recruiting scandal involving the father of a recruit allegedly being paid $30,000. The NCAA then banned Bozeman from coaching for eight years. These days, Bozeman coaches at Morgan State - who lost in heartbreaking fashion at Longwood a couple weeks back. That wasn't a big deal, but the team's trip to a sports bar afterwards was. It's said Bozeman ordered 52 steak and chicken sandwiches for the team's bus ride back to Maryland. When presented with ham sandwiches instead, it's said Bozeman went the Chris Montisanti route, grabbing a female employee by the shoulders and shaking her. Bozeman ended up being charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and one count of cursing and abusing a restaurant worker, and was freed on $1,000 bond. The Morgan St. athletic department is also looking into the matter.
